    What is an EORI Number?

The EORI (Economic Operators Registration and Identification) number is a unique identifier that every economic operator must have when conducting customs activities in the EU or UK. After Brexit, two separate EORI numbers may be needed: one for the EU and one for the UK.

When is an EORI Number Needed?

You need an EORI number if you:

    • Import or export goods to/from the EU
    • Submit customs declarations
    • Conduct transit procedures
    • Require temporary admission permits

Applying for an EU EORI Number

In Hungary, the EORI number can be applied for at NAV. The process is as follows:

    1. Complete form 23VAPJ24
    2. Attach required documents
    3. Submit electronically through eBev system
    4. Wait for approval (usually 1-2 weeks)

Applying for a UK EORI Number

If exporting to the UK, you may also need a UK EORI number. This can be applied for through the HMRC website. As an EU business:

    • Visit the GOV.UK website
    • Complete the online form
    • Provide company details
    • EORI number is usually issued immediately

    Important Information

The EORI number is free and valid indefinitely. It needs to be applied for once and can be used for all EU/UK trade activities. Without this number, customs declarations cannot be submitted.
